About the role:

Bring your talents to North Queensland coast and partner with an award-winning Local Government as a Maintenance Superintendent in a permanent fulltime position.

As the Maintenance Superintendent you will take a lead role in managing the maintenance and operation of roads, footpaths, drainage and associated assets within the urban areas of the region in an efficient and business like manner to ensure value for money outcomes are achieved. You will provide expert technical advice in relation to above mentioned assets and lead and empower a large multi-disciplinary team of supervisory personnel and field personnel including tradesmen, plant operators and labourers

The successful applicant will:

  • Be an empowering and empathic leader with a strong sense of emotional intelligence capable of building and maintaining positive relationships across a large multi-disciplinary team as well as internal personnel and external stakeholders.
  • Hold Qualifications in Engineering, Project Management or an equivalent relevant qualification or relevant extensive experience.
  • Have a highly developed ability to deal with difficult situations, clearly articulate issues, negotiate outcomes and resolve problems, with an attitude to take personal responsibility for promptly handling and resolving workplace tasks.
  • Have detailed knowledge associated with relevant regulations, legislation and industrial awards coupled with advanced knowledge in civil works maintenance and construction techniques, principles and practices. 
  • Take a lead role in ensuring Workplace Health and Safety practices meets the objectives of Council including monitor, review and improvement.
